Congratulations, Samantha Stier

samantha2For the first time this year, WriteSpa won’t be offering its weekly broadcast on Thursday, June 20. This is because I’ll be at a reading presented by my daughter, Samantha Stier, that she is giving as part of her graduation on Sunday with an MFA in creative writing from Antioch University, Los Angeles.

samanthaDid you know about this program? Founded in 1997 by renowned poet and teacher Eloise Klein Healy, Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing Emerita and the first Poet Laureate of Los Angeles, it has been named one of the top five low-residency MFA programs in the country by The Atlantic magazine.

Here’s what AULA says on its website:

“We are the world’s only MFA program specifically devoted to literature and the pursuit of social justice.

The MFA in Creative Writing program is comprised of on-campus residencies – which include classes, readings, and workshops – complemented by a five month online project period during which students live and write in their home communities. In AULA’s unique low-residency program, students explore the important role of the writer in society, reading works by diverse and socially-conscious authors.”

samantha stierI am so proud of Samantha for pursuing her dream, while working full-time, helping others, and living life to its fullest. CONGRATULATIONS!

And we’ll be back on the air next week, June 27 at 6 pm ET, with the marvelous Cheryl Snapp Conner of Snapp Conner PR. If you are interested in turning your writing into a business, you’ll enjoy hearing what she has to say, and in the meantime you can get a taste how inspiring and motivating she is by visiting her website. You can also find her on Forbes magazine.
