Guest host Kendell Shaffer will be on board for another WriteSpa treasure! The topic: The Research Pool: how deep will you jump? Kendell, a screenwriter, YA author and avid researcher will be interviewing Heather E. Ash. The two will discuss the lengths they have gone while researching stories.
Heather has worked as a staff writer for STARGATE SG-1 and GLORY DAYS. Her one-hour original script SQUARE ONE was chosen by Written By magazine (the trade publication for the Writers Guild of America) as one of its top five unproduced drama pilots and earned sixth place in the film/television script category of the 2013 Writer’s Digest Annual Competition. A graduate of Northwestern, she’s taught screenwriting to college students and math tomiddle schoolers. Her current projects include a horror feature film and a crime novel. Some writers say “everything is material”; she says “everything is research.”
Kendell Shaffer grew up in Baltimore, the daughter of two ballet dancers. She moved to the Big Apple for college where she attended Tisch School of the Arts film school at New York University. After college, she moved on to Los Angeles where she produces and writes for television. Now a resident of Venice Beach, Kendell teaches screenwriting to teens at high schools throughout Los Angeles for the Writer’s Guild Foundation. In addition to spending time with her family, she co-founded Garage Band Venice, a musical jam where kids learn to play music together in individual bands. She raises bees on her rooftop and plays the drums in her living room. Her first novel, KALIFORNIA BLU, is available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle.
