Pictures nowadays are like writing was when it first began: in order to remember the ancient myths and stories that had been handed down generation to generation, they were eventually written down, which made for a static, unchanging quality to the stories, that didn’t have the physical presence and voice of the storyteller. Nowadays, we take pictures–lots of pictures–to tell a story. This can harden the experience into something static and finite. Take a picture if you want to remember, and put the camera down if you want to experience.
