When was the last time you gave yourself the courtesy and quiet, interested listening that you give to other people? I don’t mean listening to your mental chitchat of disparagement or regurgitation of thoughts. I mean listening to your heart. I mean listening respectfully to your longings, sorrows, and experiences, without judgment or action. Listening with a deep, kind sympathy toward yourself. It may take practice, but eventually you’ll discover that no one listens to your heart better than you do yourself.
