It’s a new day

If we could walk into a room and see it as new, if we could look around with fresh, grateful eyes, how would it appear? If we could meet a friend or a lover as though it’s for the first time, with no attachments or resentments, how would we feel? Heraclitus said we can’t step into the same river twice because it’s not the same river and we’re not the same person. But we tend not to live like that—instead we hold onto expectations, routine, old habits. Let’s feel the river of the new day as something we’ve never experienced before. Each breath we take is a new breath. Each word we speak has not been spoken before by us, at that moment. Yes, every single day we’re given another opportunity to accomplish, love, breathe. Every night we’re allowed to rest. Each thought can be a revelation. Every kiss can be as though it’s our very first one. There is possibility and excitement in every moment. Let’s feel the surprise. Let’s feel the freedom. Let today be as though we’ve just been born.
