There’s so much noise in our world, and it’s not just the sound of traffic, airplanes, machinery, or vacuum cleaners. There’s a noise of constant communication, a bombardment of outrageous news. There’s also the noise of the voices in our head that tell us how incompetent and behind we are, or remind us to worry or feel bad about something we did. How exhausting. How debilitating. So many voices! Which one is the loudest? Which one is the truest? You can sort it all out when you become still. The loudest voice is the most quiet and serene: it’s the voice of your heart. The truest voice is the one that is calm, loving, encouraging, the one you hear in your heart. Listen to the beat of your heart—find its rhythm. Do this intuitively. It’s not something we pay attention to but it is a rhythm that shamans often use for drumming meditation journeys. Your heart emanates love, courage, confidence. Through it, you’ll be able to hear clearly what you need to know.
