It amazes me at times when I think of the freedom we have to show up in the world however we want to. We can commute to work or lie in bed or talk to a friend with whatever attitude we choose to. We can feel cheerful or despairing at every corner we turn. We can lighten our hearts by gladdening someone else’s. We can smile warmly or glare at someone, and feel the effect of either one inwardly. Sometimes we get so wound up in worry about someone else or the future that we start to feel like a tangled messy ball of wool that gets all knotted up and pilly. Or we stress over something outside ourselves that we have no control over and get stiffened into bitterness or resentment. But we are not clay being hardened through living … we are malleable, flexible, and expanding beings. Don’t limit yourself! Your inner core is supple, strong, and eager to experience more and more. Even showing up in all your vulnerability, facing an indifferent crowd, can make you feel in harmony with yourself—when you let it.
