When you’re the most excited, rest for a moment. If you’re in the middle of a heated discussion or just before you reach the top of the mountain, take a look around and smile inwardly. If you’re at the races and just about to win, pause in your shouting. Reflect. Center yourself, grow calm, become aware of the people around you, the trees waving in the breeze, the sunshine on your eyelids. Take time to relax your whole body into the experience. Breathe deeply into your heart and then, as you exhale, expand your heart as far into your surroundings as you can: up and down, behind you and ahead of you. As you do this, you envelope everything around and it envelopes you as well. You become one with it. You merge with it. This can be the most satisfying experience in the world.
