Sometimes all we need is a few moments of stillness while we catch our breath in between flurry, travel, or waiting for the dough to rise or a pie to cool. Pause, sip slowly, savor. Even stopping for a cup of tea can bring a whole new mindful clarity to an otherwise busy day. Take a short walk around the block to quiet your tumult. You’ll get more out of anything by stepping back every now and then. Allow feelings—whatever they are—to well up in you … and then let them dissolve. Whether you’re in love, or thrilled, or despairing doesn’t matter: feelings are energy and they need to flow through you and onward. It only takes a few moments, but their intensity can exhaust you if you don’t give them space. A moment of stillness allows the commotion to roar through, and then as you move through your day, you are left with your core of sweet stillness inside you.
