WriteSpa – Asking the Question

Every Wednesday my (FREE) WriteSpa – an Oasis for Writers is sent out to subscribers. (You can sign up to receive this on my web site). This week’s topic is “Asking the Question.” From Parzival’s mysterious quest, to Hamlet’s despairing plea for meaning, to our every day encounters with fellow-travelers through life when we ask “How do you do?” … asking  questions is part of the construction of human relationships.

Every WriteSpa – an Oasis for Writers consists of two parts: Process and Practice. This week’s process is How to Interview. In it I talk about how best to approach an interview and offer types of questions that can work. I then give a specific Writing Practice. I always throw in (also for free) a week’s worth of ‘happinesses’ to mull over.

I hope that those of you who subscribe are not daunted by the challenge of this week’s Writing Practice. I also hope that the practice inspires an easier time of conversation between you and a fellow human being: whether it’s sitting by the bedside of a sick person in a hospital, or on a first date with a girl you’re crazy about, or whether you’re writing an interview for a magazine. Since studying the mystery of The Question, I’ve realized it’s a vital door to communication. This is just a small beginning.

(If you do decide to sign up, I want you to know that I never, ever share your name or email address with anyone else. Ever.)
