Stillness 1-21-2019

all you have to do – take smaller breaths – in and out – be slower.

There’s no need to always be great – sometimes it’s okay to be small. There’s only so much you can do. Maybe you didn’t march, or save a wild animal, or write the letter you intended. Maybe you didn’t reach out, or succeed, or paint that painting you said you would wanted to. Sometimes all that’s being asked of you is kindness – toward yourself. Sometimes all that matters may be a warm fire and a cup of tea and a sweet memory. Or perhaps a hug as you pass in the hallway or a cat asleep on your feet. You don’t always have to be taking deep breaths and trying to get in touch with God – and you don’t have to save the world – today try nibbling at life and resting in the sunshine afterward.
