Stillness 4-22

a gate is to open – feel welcome.

A gate is not about keeping us out – it is about letting us through. The original meaning of the word is from Old English ‘geat’ meaning ‘opening’ or ‘entrance.’ Gateways are beautiful when we regard them with their real meaning: as thresholds, portals, openings to new worlds and adventures, to friendships, careers, and to homes. Begin to notice gates, both around you and within you. Many gates exist in us but we tend to pass them by, feeling as though they were there to shut us out rather than welcome us in. What gate have you seen lately that you long to push open and walk through? What will you discover when you finally do?
