Stillness 7-19

don’t hide – show your light.

Part of what’s scary about showing up as you truly are is that you might be teased or ignored or squashed. But more often I find that the reason people don’t want to shine their light of love, joy, and good will upon the world (and instead they hide in a dark place of complaints, grudges, and worries) is that they feel unworthy. It’s as though they hear a reproving voice exclaiming, “Who are you to shine your light of happiness—how dare you?” They’re afraid they’ll outshine someone else who is more worthy than they. But who is more worthy than each one of us? Release those old voices of guilt, dread, or fear of punishment and step into your essential nature of love and light. By letting ourselves shine our light, we encourage other people to shine theirs. Step out into your light — let yourself glow so that other people can really appreciate you. That is how other people learn to appreciate themselves too.
