When we accomplish our tasks mindfully, the most surprising thing we discover is that we have plenty of time for everything we need to do. I think this has something to do with experiencing time as something that expands rather than as a thin, miserly line that we’re trying to run along, balance on, and hold onto if necessary. Breathe in the immensity of all the time in the world, even when doing something as simple as washing dishes or taking out the compost. Don’t think that by slowing down you’ll miss out on that finite sliver of time you’re allocated. Realize there’s plenty for everyone. Slow down, grow calm, focus your attention, and you’ll get everything done—including resting, daydreaming, and being still. The less we hurry, the more time we have.
