Finding your way

I love the phrase ‘finding your way’ because it has a resonance of letting the way find you. Finding your way is about discovery and charm rather than hacking an uncut trail out of the jungle or following a well-worn path. It’s not about commuting to work or getting somewhere, but about allowing the way to become the purpose. We can find our way through a patchy bit of relating or a tense time at work. We can find our way through our hectic, myriad strands of thoughts, to arrive at a place in our mind that’s untangled and free. Sometimes we find our way through a messy situation and emerge feeling clearer and cleaner in our hearts. How do we make sure we don’t get lost? Through stillness. Be still before, during, and after the journey—no matter how small. Maybe we just need to find our way through cleaning the dishes in the sink. Or it can be big: perhaps we need to find our way to our current soul’s purpose. Let stillness be your guide, even if you don’t know the eventual outcome of where you might find yourself. When stillness imbues you, finding your way is where you find yourself.
