When we’re feeling separated or distant or misunderstood, one way to feel better is by reaching out. Hold out a hand and help someone over a stream. Learn more about a different country. Ask for directions. Talk to someone who is on the other side of your beliefs or experiences. Cultural exchanges create bridges to connect more deeply. Friends and lovers create bridges to become closer, always knowing we are separate but always longing to to connect. We can even practice using our clairvoyance by building bridges to different aspects of our consciousness. Build a bridge into your imagination. Be like a medium and create bridges to the beyond. Feel less separate by creating your bridges to other people, including people who have died. And if you find yourself on a bridge that spans a widening gulf (as sometimes happens when we encounter rigid ideology or old misunderstanding) get off it. A bridge is not where we stay—it’s what we use to cross over. If it doesn’t feel safe, find a different one, that goes to a different place.
