Stillness 4-17

go on – go for it – take the leap.

If you’re hesitating about whether or not to take the plunge, here’s an illuminating push for you: do it even if you’re not sure, not ready, not brave. The practice of risk-taking is empowering and freeing. Risk-takers teach us this: Yes, if you climb a tree you might fall – but you’ve climbed a tree! Yes, if you take a trip somewhere there may be travel snarls or delays – but that’s part of the adventure. Yes, if you make a snap decision about something you may have to later change course – so what? Practice flexibility and optimism – it will help to balance the somber concept of ‘foolishness’ or ‘folly’ that taking a leap into the unknown implies. Instead, feel yourself leaping into possibility. Get out your paints or write that song.
