Stillness 5-13

row your own boat.

Feel the pleasure of going down to the dock, finding your very own boat, and setting off in it. Feel the anticipation, sense of adventure, and freedom. Of course there are other boats around that you need to be aware of. Of course you need to be concerned and helpful to other people in other boats … but they’re not your boat. You don’t have to get in them, much less try to steer them. Imagine your own boat deep in your heart. When you’re faced with decisions, visualize yourself getting in the boat and trusting the journey. It’s your journey, it’s your experience, and taking care of your own boat is sometimes all that is required. Be your own authority and caretaker. Only when you truly feel you are captain of your soul can you reach out to be of real service and guidance to others.
