Stillness 5-26

you can always walk away gracefully.

Sometimes we get so caught up in an argument, a cause, or a fierce desire that we forget that we can untangle ourselves and let it go. In stillness, we remember that we are not attached to anything that does not make us feel whole and well. Sometimes an argument has no end—it’s just disagreement, for example, and it can make us deeply unsettled. Or something we thought we wanted for a long time may turn out not to be as important as it once was. Let it go. Imagine how fascinated rocks are by a tree’s ability to sway in the breeze. Imagine how amazed a tree feels by a creature’s ability to cross a field or actually to fly! Our own great astonishment can be felt in observing movement within us: we can walk away from ourselves! That is surely the greatest magic of all.
