Stillness 5-27

try just floating – feel your buoyancy.

As we prepare for another busy day, especially if there’s a storm brewing, remember the wisdom of a sturdy boat: it knows how to float. We don’t have to engage in every discussion or argument. We don’t have to advise or ask for something. The word float also has in it the meaning of ‘flow’ and ‘fleet,’ which is why it’s a lovely guide when we’re in a crowd or having to accomplish many tasks. When we’re floating, we’re not swimming hard. When we’re floating, we’re not overwhelmed. Try entering meditation through a sensation of floating: lighten each limb, every organ (including the skin), and every thought. Become buoyant. Feel like a delicious ice cream float.
